This may seem like a lot! If you are new to leading worship with Ableton, focus on acquiring the gear and software in steps 1-4. Gear and software for lighting automation with myDMX 3.0 Gear and software for lyric automation ProPresenter Which version of Ableton Live you should buy The following is a list of hardware and software you will need. I didn't find any option in Reaper for this.Īnd the Midi notes are well received in LoopBe, Midi-Ox shows that. Before using Ableton Live to run a click, tracks, and lighting and lyrics automation in worship, you’re going to need some gear in place to utilize the power of this amazing software. I think it isn't possible to avoid sending these initalisation commands. I've unchecked the Reset Midi CC/Pitch (Preferences / Audio / Playback). I try to avoid sending the first initialisation commands. So the same events as above but no Timing Clock. Now I have stopped the sending clock signal to LoopBe1 output. But I still receive the first initialisation commands, then everlasting Timing Clock and the lights are flashing. I receive all the first initialisation commands then everlasting Timing Clock no midi note but the lights are flashing.īest of all, I even deleted the midi track. Later I receive the first Midi note but the lights are already running before that note. Midi-Ox helps me to understand what is sent by Reaper when I start the midi track. When it's not mute, then the communication exists between Reaper and MyDMX. When I mute it, nothing happens with the light. So no possibility to start different scenes at different moments in the MIDI track.Īnd LoopBe makes it job. It gives the impression it works, but in fact only the last sequence which learned its MIDI note becomes active directly at the hit on the play button (I tried with other new sequences to understand what's happening). But the MIDI note isn't right here at the beginning, only about 1 bar later !!! So something else sends the start to the MyDMX, but what ? No new MIDI note appears in the track. Then I hit play in Reaper and, immediately, the light is flashing. Then, in MyDMX, I make the Black sequence running (so no light at all). I learn the MIDI note to the Flash sequence, of course. I have two sequences in MyDMX one black (no light, the "ready state"!) and one with the lights flashing. I had the idea to make MyDMX learning a key not with the keyboard this time but directly during playing the tracks in Reaper. Then, when I play the tracks in Reaper, nothing happens. When I programmed the MyDMX to start a sequence with a MIDI note, i Hit the C3 key on my keyboard. It seems possible as I saw on Internet but I can only see the result, never (yet) the way to do it. Also the MIDI track is routed to "Master Send" (useless I think) and the MIDI hardware output is sent to "LoopBe Internal Midi".Īll three programs are running (Reaper, MyDMX and LoopBe), I hit the Play key in Reaper and guess what ? it doesn't work :-(as you certainly expected.) LoopBe is defined in Audio/MIDI devices (preferences) and enabled for output in Reaper. I have also installed LoopBe1 ( ) that should transfer MIDI data between computer programs. I have no problem to drive the lights with the software for MyDMX and can start a scene thru MIDI notes (I choose the C3 key - a scene is a sequence of actions defined as we want).Īnd I would like to synchronise all this with 2 tracks in Reaper, one containing the sound and the other one containing the MIDI note at the right moment). I have no problem to hear the thunder with Reaper. The lights I use are ADJ Freq 5 Strobe ( ) My goal is to flash some lights (lightning) while hearing thunder. I use Reaper v5.70 and want to connect it to MyDMX 2.1 ( ).
